The Working Together to Safeguard Children guidance sets out how organisations and individuals should work together to promote children's welfare, identify concerns early, and respond effectively when children are at risk of harm.
The 2026 update continues to reinforce a fundamental principle: safeguarding is everyone's responsibility.
No single professional or organisation can adequately protect children in isolation. Effective safeguarding depends on timely information sharing, strong multi-agency collaboration, professional curiosity, and a child-centred approach that keeps the lived experience of the child at the heart of decision making.
During the session, we will explore the key changes and priorities within the 2026 guidance, what they mean for frontline practice, and how they strengthen our collective ability to safeguard children and support families.
We will also gain an understanding of the updated guidance, in terms of Family Help, the Families First reforms, enhanced multi-agency safeguarding arrangements, improved partnership accountability, and a stronger focus on the voices and lived experiences of children and families.
