Harmless - Self Harm Awareness Delivered by Cheshire Children and Young Peoples Mental Health Services (CYPMHS)

Self Harm Awareness- accredited by Harmless

Self harm is a complex and often misunderstood issue that can affect anyone, regardless of age or background.
Our Self Harm Awareness training equips participants with the knowledge and confidence to respond with empathy, understanding and professionalism. The course explores the different types of self harm, the contextual and emotional factors behind it, and the warning signs that may indicate someone is in distress.

Through this training, participants learn how to offer effective support using evidence-based interventions and safety planning strategies. The course also covers the impact of trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), the links between self harm, mental health and suicide, and how to adapt approaches for children, young people and adults. On completion, learners receive supporting resources and a certificate to recognise their enhanced awareness, skills and confidence.
This training is suitable for all those who work with children and young people.
NB: Due to the sensitive nature of the course content (discussion around self harm and self injurious behaviour), serious consideration should be given  before booking a place on this course.
