This one day course is designed to enable participants to understand their roles and responsibilities as the designated safeguarding person.
• The current context of Working Together to Safeguard Children
• The safeguarding roles of parents and carers and recognise factors that can impact upon parenting
• Roles and responsibilities in other agencies and understanding that each share common responsibilities
• Statutory legislation, policy, procedure and guidance
• The challenges and barriers to effective information sharing
• The importance of working co-operatively and collaboratively with professionals from other agencies in safeguarding children.
• Their own attitudes towards safeguarding and the impact of this on their work
• Useful contacts within the local professional multi-agency community to support practice
